The Missions Team completed a Mississippi Mission Trip

April 8-13, 2007

Mission Team members making the trip were:

Joshua Chronister, Keith Gnad, Lyle Heim, Jay Shearer, Dennis Schick, Jan Schick and Bill Eby

The team travelled to the Gateway United Methodist Church in Gulfport, MS to support people who had Hurricane Katrina related damage.

The first assignment was to finish a sheetrock ceiling in a bed room and paint four concrete floors. This was in a very rural MS town east of Wiggins. The family experienced one of the more than 100 tornados in the area over an 8 hour period.

The second assignment was to finish a sheetrock wall, replacing trim, installing floor mold and repairing other water damaged items.

Other assignments included painting, installing a window air conditioner and repairing a wooden floor for a woman who had a baby in January and a nurse.

The team was appalled by the destruction along the costal highway. Only slabs remain. In spite of the storm damage, new buildings are under construction and homes are being rebuilt.

The team accomplished a lot more than anticipated with the seven person work force and the Gateway leadership really appreciated what the team accomplished.
