Reverend Marcia Dodd

Associate Minister

Marcia grew up in Nettleton, Arkansas, where five generations of her family worked and worshiped before the town became a part of Jonesboro. She graduated in 1964 from Nettleton High School, attended Arkansas State College for two years, and graduated from Hendrix College in 1968 with BA in Religious Education.

After studying at Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary and Seabury-Western Theological Seminary in Evanston, Illinois, she completed her MA in Christian Education at the Presbyterian School of Christian Education, Union Theological Seminary, Richmond, Virginia. She studied at several other seminaries to complete the requirements for ordination.

In 1977, she was certified as a Director of Christian Education, and for ten years she was appointed to serve in local churches as a Diaconal Minister. Her tenure as an ordained pastor began in 1988; she is an Elder in the Arkansas Conference. She has served churches as small as 12 members and as large as 2,000 members.

Marcia has one son, Carter Dodd, who is attending American University in Washington, D.C. For fun she enjoys decorative arts, listening to NPR radio - especially Garrison Keillor’s A Prairie Home Companion and The Diane Rheem Show, all kinds of movies, writing, and reading the newspaper comics.
