Children's

Ministry

Train a child in the way he should go,

And when he is old, he will not turn from it.

Proverbs 22:6

Children are a vital part of Lakewood United Methodist Church and we truly cherish our time with your children!

Nursery

Our Church Nursery is open every Sunday morning from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon and childcare is available for most church functions during the week. We are blessed with experienced and committed nursery staff that are screened and trained by the Director of Christian Education. Our goal is to provide a safe and loving atmosphere for our little ones so that their first glimpse of God will be a positive experience in a trusting environment.

 Sunday School

Preschoolers and Kindergartners are taught the Bible on a three-year cycle that encompasses the major stories and themes of the Old and New Testament. We spend a lot of time on each story so that younger children are not confused and so they can truly grasp the important themes of the Bible before the move into elementary-aged classes.

The teachers in the preschool and kindergarten classes are with the children every Sunday and most of these teachers have worked with this age group for over ten years. They are dedicated and loving disciples who are truly interested in the spiritual development of your child.

 Confirmation Class - 6th Grade

Confirmation means "to make firm" and our 6th graders spend the whole year learning about what is means to be a Christian. The journey culminates with their decision to confirm their baptism vows in a special worship service held in May of every year. The class participates in weekly sessions on Sunday mornings from 10:45 - 11:30 a.m. They also go on field trips, have time together for fun, make banners, participate in missions, and go on a retreat in the Spring.
